The instrument cluster / speedo failure is a very common problem for the FORD C-MAX, when the unit fails you will notice various engine management lights on the instrument cluster. The engine may loose all power and go into ‘limp mode’. This fault normally starts out as intermittent, but the fault will become permanent and will cause the vehicle to fail to start and cut out.
