Ford Fiesta Durashift clutch actuator fault – stuck in gear and no start
This is a very common problem in the Ford Fiesta (Mk6) that causes the gearbox to get stuck in one gear, and sometimes the car will not start. The clutch actuator is fitted to the Durashift EST (Electronic Shift Transmission) gearbox, which means that during a failure, the gearbox will get stuck in a gear. When you turn the car off and then try to restart it, you will find that the engine refuses to start.
Common Faults Codes:

When this failure occurs, you will see a warning message appear on the instrument cluster that reads ‘Transmission fault’. Additionally, a flashing ‘N’ will appear in the gear display, or it may be blank. The most common fault code, P0810 – Clutch Position Control Error, will appear when the car is scanned with a diagnostic tool, which unfortunately cannot be cleared.
Ford Fiesta Clutch Replacement Cost
To resolve the Ford Fiesta Durashift problem, main dealerships often purchase an expensive replacement clutch actuator, which also requires extra cost to have programmed to the car. They also offer only a short one-year manufacturer warranty, and since these failures weren’t corrected at the factory level, all new replacements done by them are prone to malfunction.
