Even though the components in these Volvo Trucks’ clusters are designed for automotive use, the dashboards are typically past their design life after just a few years.
An intermittent air gauge failure is the most common issue with the instrument cluster. It will trigger a warning buzzer, and the needle will drop. The problem often comes and goes, usually triggered by driving over a bump.
Common Faults Codes:
- PID:118 FMI:4 Secondary brake pressure short low
- PID:117 FMI:4 Primary Brake pressure short low
- SID:250 FMI:12 J1708 datalink defective upon request
- PSID 205, 204, 208, 207 FMI 12 Data link errors upon request
- PSID 200 FMI 9 Engine ECU data link abnormal update rate upon request
Common Faults:
- Green indicator tell-tales not functioning
- No audible warning
- Sticking needles
- Inaccurate needles
- Non-functioning gauges
- Air leaking from the air gauge on earlier models
